Sazerac is an award-winning brand from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It pays tribute to the Sazerac Coffee House (at the time, the term "coffee house" was used to refer to a cocktail bar) and the role it played in replacing brandy with rye whiskey in the cocktail of the same name. The expression was distilled in 2001 from Minnesota rye, Kentucky corn, and North Dakota malted barley. It then spent 18 years in its new American oak #4 char casks in warehouses L and K. Tasting Notes
The nose is floral and fruity with cherry, honey, and oak. The palate is sweet and spicy with butterscotch, maple syrup, vanilla, dark berries, and a healthy dose of baking spice. The finish is long and oaky with black pepper and spearmint.
